Mazda Motor Corporation is based in Hiroshima, Japan, with Ford Motor Company having a controlling interest.
Mazda is the only remaining manufacturer of Wankel "rotary" engine automobiles. Mazda had the distinction of having the first foreign CEO to head a Japanese car company.
Mazda is also the most reliable finisher at the LeMans auto race.
"The all-new 2004 Mazda RX-8 is one of the most ingenious cars to be designed in years. Its small (but powerful) rotary engine allows the unique configuration of four doors and four seats. The wheelbase and overall length are shorter than a sports coupe yet there is more legroom in the rear, and the weight distribution is a perfect 50-50 for balanced handling."
The RX-8's front fenders curve around the tires and back towards the front edge of the doors. This gives the RX-8 a strong and athletic presence when you see one driving down the road. It's a cutting edge design that, when you see it, you realize immediately that it works.
Design isn't all the RX-8 has going for it. With a one-of-a-kind RENESIS 13B rotary engine and a beautifully-designed interior, the Mazda RX-8 is redefining the automobile industry's definition of a sports car.
