Lexus was inspired by the success of the ultra sporty Toyota Supra and the luxury Toyota Cressida models. Both the Supra and Cressida were rear wheel drive cars with a powerful (7M-GE/7M-GTE) type engine.
The first Lexus-badged models, the V-8 powered LS 400 and the smaller, Toyota Camry-based ES 250, appeared in 1989. According to Toyota the name "Lexus" had no meaning and was just meant to be pleasing and easy to remember.
Lexus is now considered one of the finest automobile makers in the world.
"The new 2007 LS460 is not just the peer of the leading trio, it provides a new benchmark for the category. The first all-new V-8 engine since Lexus began its inexorable rise to the pinnacle seventeen years ago is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission that is so totally unobtrusive that you forget about it. If you should hear an unusual noise coming from your car, it is best to have a mechanic listen to it. Remember to let the technician diagnose and recommend a remedy, even if you think you already know what the problem is. Plus, it’s important not to demand an on-the-spot diagnosis. The technician needs to thoroughly examine the vehicle before knowing what’s really going on.
Try to learn from the situation. Ask questions to help understand the problem. Mechanical terminology can sometimes be confusing and the modern car is subject to not easily explained computer analysis.
